May 2rd lunchbox

Just back from the Miners' Hospital in Caerphilly. (nearly midnight UK time)

Been there since 10am with my wife Petra and our adorable 2 day old baby Isabella (who weighed in at 6 pounds and 11.5 ounces.

Petra is staying overnight, but hope to be all home by the weekend.

So no walk to work today, as I am on paternity leave. All those miners who once worked in the coal mines of South Wales would probably laugh themselves silly at the thought of having time off because the "missus has had a little one like."

Have to say I am a bit tired, but poor Petra is truly exhausted, hardly any sleep in two days, but she is doing brilliantly.

LUNCHBOX... Was plunged into action, containing an extremely large fruit salad, which I made for Petra this morning, containing strawberries, two cut up, but mentally sound kiwi fruit, and a whole load of pineapple.

THE Lunchbox was pressed into action this evening as a foot rest for Petra as she cradled Isabella in her arms on the rocking chair by the side of her bed.

Random Thought (well more of an observation)

Was out walking through the centre of Caerphilly (small town about 8 miles from the centre of the capital of Wales, Cardiff) in search of a Mothercare outlet to buy some grow bags for Isabella and was struck at how clean the streets were - unlike parts of Cardiff which are a disgrace with litter thrown everywhere.

The centre of the town, with its magnificent castle, is looking pretty good these days, with the retail offer so much better. Think I said before that with global warming, Caerphilly could well become the new Cardiff.

Have fun, but don't run, especially it you are carrying a scolding hot mug of tea.

Ps I did manage to find the Mothercare store by the way!
